National COMSATS Open Source Technologies Workshop 2008

Introduction

COMSATS Institute of Information Technologies has put together an effort to introduce a whole world of Open Source technologies to the academic as well as technological Institutes all over Pakistan. Open Source operating systems, softwares and technologies offer alot of potential to the people interested in exploring and exploiting this unique world. The motto of NoCOST 2008 is “Freedom and Innovation” and is intended to demonstrate that Free and Open Source Software is a consolidated reality, a powerful, strong and secure alternate option to the spectrum of end users ranging from organisations to "Home users".

Open source model operates as a motivating force for civil integration, able to surmount social and economic barriers erected against the revolution of e-knowledge, placing open and high-quality engineered hardware and software systems at everyone’s disposal.
